Wednesday night's performance was given by 28 artists from Yunnan, China's most ethnically diversified province. These artists come from a dozen ethnic backgrounds, and their unique performances represented the cultural legacies of different ethnic minority communities.

Highlights included "Peacock" - a traditional dance from the Dai ethnic group. "Festival of Fire" offered an insight into the Yi ethnic group's long history of worshiping fire.

The evening's spectacular show was a splendid tapestry of authentic folk art and culture from southwest China.

The Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council launched a major cultural-exchange project during the Spring Festival. Four art troupes have been dispatched to travel in Europe, Southeast Asia, North America and South America.

After Berlin, the Yunnan art troupe will visit Paris, France.
