The end of the Spring Festival holiday means the start of the job hunting season for many Chinese college students. Several large recruitment fairs have been held recently in cities across China. Like last year, recruiters are very demanding and competition for the best jobs is tough. Many graduates have been forced to cut their salary expectations.

In east China's Qingdao city, the first job fair for college graduates after the holidays attracted more than 30 thousand students in just one morning. A total of 39 hundred positions were offered at the fair.
Many grads are travelling from one city to another, in hope of finding a job.
A college student said, "I went to a job fair in Yantai city yesterday. Then I came to Qingdao today."
At a job fair in the northeastern port city of Dalian, 90 percent of applicants are students who will graduate this summer. But most recruiters require applicants to have relevant work experience.

A college student said, "Many positions require related work experience. It's very difficult for us."
A recruiter said, "If you don't have any experience, you won't be able to do the job well right away. That means we will have to train you."
Some college graduates are having to re-consider their options. And many have chosen to apply for jobs that are not related to their majors.
"I can take a low level position, such as a sales assistant," said a college student.
Many students say they don't have high expectations for their first job. Some say a salary of just one thousand yuan per month would be acceptable.
