The event featured 42 contestants from 42 colleges and universities.

The 2008 CCTV Cup English Speaking Contest quarterfinals for Hubei were held in Wuhan last Saturday at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

Three students from Huazhong Normal University, Wuhan University and Xiaogan College won first prizes, and they will represent Hubei in the semi-finals in Beijing in December.
