The connection between China and Greece extends from the Olympic Games and right on into the displays at the book fair. A 700-square-meter hall is reserved for books from Greece and China. Most conspicuous on the shelves are books about ancient Olympia.
A visitor said, "The books from Greece are very rich in content. I am especially interested in books on the origins of the Olympic Games. It's fascinating to discover how the ancient Greeks made the Games happen and develop."
Contemporary Greek writers are also on hand to meet with Chinese readers. Organizers hope the Olympic Games may provide motivation for Chinese readers to go deep into literature to appreciate the ancient and enduring culture of Greece.
