Outdoor performances Sunday night marked the anniversary of that auspicious day, with celebrations in seventeen parks and plazas.

The China Millennium Monument, in the west of Beijing opened two months of evening performances celebrating the Olympic Games, Sunday night. Performers from north China's Heilongjiang Province and the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region joined performing groups from Beijing.
Beijing Sculpture Park threw open its doors to offer the public free performances during the next two months. Thirty performances are scheduled featuring Chinese and foreign troupes.
