Northeast China boasts rich soil, diverse dialects and extroverted people. It's also a hot spot for production of rural films and television series. An office dedicated to assist in the production of rural films has been set up by Changchun Film Studio.

The film office will produce a hundred films about life in the countryside. The films will be shown in China's rural regions by mobile theatre teams. The Ministry of Finance, The State Administration for Film, Television and Radio and the provincial government of Jilin have set up a fund to create rural films. 100 million yuan or over 14 million US dollars has gone into the fund.

The new office studio will collect scripts and choose directors from around the country, to shoot movies about the masses of farmers in China. The films are intended primarily for rural audiences.
