Plans are unveiled for a rather spectacular feat in modern architecture. The New York announcement revealed plans to two buildings, one in Dubai and one in Moscow, that will rotate - the world's first moving buildings. Every floor will rotate independently. The buildings' architectural design will be continually changing.

The Dubai tower, which is slated for a 2010 opening, will be 80 storeys. It will be comprised of offices, a hotel, apartments, and 10 luxury villas. Although the entire building will rotate, owners of the 10 private villas at the top will be able to control their own degree of rotation. The movement of the other 70 floors will be controlled by architects who will choose the building's evolving design.

Not only are the buildings meant to create eye-catching additions to the skyline, the rotating structures are also designed to generate their own electricity.

Each floor will be prefabricated in Italy, then shipped and assembled on location. Fisher says the prefabricated skyscrapers eliminate the need for on site cranes. Buildings can be raised in record time.
