The martial arts movie features young Wushu athletes training under Sammo Hung. He's an actor too but has been a martial artist since childhood.

The film has an aura of authenticity. It tells the real life story of five young hopefuls, battling the odds at a Wushu training school, striving to reach the top of their disciplines.

The film is directed by Australian film-maker Antony Szeto. He is also a Wushu student at Beijing Sport University. Jackie Chan is the co-producer, dealing with finance and promotion.

Jackie Chan, Co-producer of "Wushu", said, "I love martial arts, I love wushu. One of the producers called Mr Som showed me the video and I said 'yes.' As a director, (to help) this new director and also to find some new talent. I believe I have a responsibility to help them."

Jackie Chan and the Hong Kong Emperor Group foundation have donated 10 million yuan to the quake-hit area in Sichuan province. While promoting the film, Chan also spoke of his appreciation for those all over China and around the world, who supported the relief effort.
