A 20-episode documentary "Drinking From One River" goes to broadcast on CCTV New Year's Day. The series follows the customs and cultures of the six countries along the Lancang-Mekong River - China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.

The Lancang River rises from the northeast side of the Tanggula mountains of west China's Qinghai Province. It rolls on into Tibet Autonomous region and Yunnan Province. It becomes the Mekong River after it leaves China, running through Myanmar, then Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam before it empties into the South China Sea.

70 peoples inhabit the region's more than 2 million square kilometres. The Mekong Sub-region is an area wealthy in natural resources, long history and rich in folk culture.
