Jennifer Hsiung was born and raised in Toronto, Canada on September 20th, 1982. She attended Stephen Leacock Collegiate Institute and graduated as high school valedictorian with the highest OAC average of 97.3 per cent out of 153 graduates. She was not a fan of math and her writing wasn't bad, so she decided to go into journailsm after high school. But drama and visual arts remain her ultimate passion and forte. She recieved an entrance scholarship from Ryerson' University's School of Journalism in 2001. She maintaned the highest academic standing in her program throughout all four years of her university career and has received 12 journalism awards from the faculty of communication and design among others in recognition of leadership and academic success. During her final year of study, she interned at CTV's Newsnet. Jennifer is also a member of the Golden Key Honour Society.

In August 2005 Jennifer joined 680News (Toronto's only 24 hour all news radio station) where she worked as an overnight traffic announcer, reporting live every 10 minutes on the 1's. Her professional experience in broadcasting came from her "air miles" at 680News. Jennifer left 680News in April 2006 for Beijing, China. Her dream was to get into broadcasting in China so she could cover the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Jennifer's goal of making it on televison by the age of 25 came true exactly one year and one day early. A day before her 24th birthday, Jennifer anchored her first live sports show for CCTV-9. She has been working for the station since 2006 and also started co-hosting Culture Express in 2007, the station's culture and entertainment news program. So far, she has had exclusive interviews with Kobe Bryant, Lindsay Davenport, Nicolay Davydenko, International Olympic Committee Comissioner Hein Verbruggen, IOC Marketing Chairman Gerard Heiberg, NY Yankees manager Brian Cashman, and WTA CEO Larry Scott.

As a former ballroom/Latin dance instructor, Jennifer also enjoys dancing. She has assisted her father (who's been a dance instructor for over 25 years) with dance performances since the age of 12.
