Among the Chinese people, each ethnic group is distinguished by its unique and charming wedding customs. In Inner Mongolia, a branch of the Mongolian ethnic group boasts wedding traditions that go back to the 13th century.

The bridegroom must pay respects to the ancestors before setting out to fetch his wife-to-be, in accordance with Erdos Mongolian traditions. The ritual of worship concludes after about one half hour. The bridegroom then mounts a camel-drawn coach and joins a parade, to the bride's residence, led by two teams of horses.
