Special Report:   80th Anniversary of PLA

A calligraphy exhibition in Shanghai opened on Sunday, featuring works from one hundred military calligraphers. The event is one of hundred of events all over the country, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army on August 1st.

The 150 pieces of calligraphy were written by veterans whose average age is 79. The oldest were the 97-year-old lieutenant generals Fang Qiang and Zeng Siyu. The youngest was the 63-year-old General Liu Miqun, who is the daughter of Marshal Liu Bocheng.
