Stars of the Hong Kong comedy "Mr. Cinema" turned out for the film's mainland premiere Tuesday. Anthony Wong, Karen Mok, Ronald Cheng and Teresa Mo, were present along with director Samson Chiu who said he tried to make a film that would bring tears of mirth to the eyes of cinema goers.

Set in a retrospective tone, the film tells the story of a Hong Kong projectionist's family spanning four decades, from 1967 to 2007.

It's a diversion from the police-and-gang fight theme heavily featured in Hong Kong films, "Mr. Cinema" is abundant with warmer, more human elements. Many of its themes strike a chord among mainland audiences as well, There are patriotic young men, nostalgic old films, and that eagerness among people to come to the capital city.
