Special Report:   HK 10 Years

There are plenty of events marking the ten year anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China. Film industry professionals from the mainland and Hong Kong are also celebrating.

The celebration begins with the premiere of "Hello, Hong Kong", a one-hundred minute documentary produced by the China Central Newsreel and Documentary Film Studio. The premiere was held in Hong Kong on Friday night, with industry insiders from the mainland and Hong Kong attending.

Tsui Siu Ming, president of Sundream Motion Pictures Ltd., said, "Back in 1982, I went to the mainland to shoot "Holy Robes of Shaolin", and the "Mirage". At that time the mainland lacked resources that the industry needed, like skilled workers, equipment and money. But now it has totally changed. The mainland now has abundant resources, and in some aspects is better than Hong Kong and many other places in the world."
