More than 30 nostalgic toys, designed, manufactured or sold in Hong Kong over the years, started on display Tuesday at the "Hong Kong Toys" exhibition in the subway station.
The toy industry in Hong Kong has undergone tremendous changes. Since the 1980s, many manufacturers have moved their plants to the Chinese mainland and toys rarely carry the words "Made in Hong Kong." The exhibits represent toy trends from different periods and many of them were highly popular at the time of their manufacture.
The exhibition will last till July 2.
This is one of the exhibition series of "Beyond the Museum" organized by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and the MTR Corporation, which is the underground railway corporation in Hong Kong. By staging a series of exhibitions in Central - the heart of the city - the project aims to provide the public with a new experience of art and culture.
The "Beyond the Museum" exhibition series consists of four specific themes. Apart from the current exhibition and the "Advertising Posters of Hong Kong in the 1920s and 1930s" exhibition in February, there will be two upcoming exhibitions - The "Fashion Parade: Women's Wears in Changing Hong Kong" to be held in July and "Contemporary Posters" in October.
