Special Report:   Cultural Heritage Day

Over one hundred of the original Qin Dynasty terra-cotta warriors are now on display in Taiwan. Thousands are crowding into the exhibition to take a closer look at one of China's greatest national treasures.

Local people are standing in long queues under the hot sun to get a first hand look at the mysterious terra-cotta warriors of China's first emperor, Qinshihuang.

A visitor said, "Before I only saw them on photos, internet and television. Now it's impressive to see them so close up."

"The costume design is so rich in variety. The exhibition is so big in scale. It's great!" said a visitor.

Seven years ago, over one million Taiwan citizens saw the Qin terra-cotta warriors in Taipei on their first visit to the island. This new collection was unearthed in northwest China's Shaanxi Province in 2000. Among them, it's a rarely-displayed green-faced soldier who has attracted much attention. The organizers are confident of getting well over a million visitors this time.
