Special Report:   2007 Spring Festival

The traditional Chinese Spring Festival is less than a week to go. As people in China are busy preparing their most important holiday of the year, many overseas Chinese are also holding their celebrations.

In Sydney, Australia, a big parade has been organized to mark the occasion.

A grand parade in the streets between the mayor's office and Sydney's China Town imbued the city with even more color and culture. It was the largest parade of its kind in the city with the support from south China's province Guangdong. Tens of thousands thronged the streets to enjoy the festive atmosphere of the biggest day of the Chinese lunar new Year. While two and a half thousand performers, half of whom were from Guangdong, demonstrated some of their traditions through a variety of folk arts, dance and song.
