China's tourism authorities have launched a series of measures to attract visitors back to Xinjiang. The measures include cheaper entrance tickets, and discounts on air fares and hotel accommodation.

The National Administration of Tourism has halved the prices of entrance tickets for top scenic spots and hotels in Xinjiang up to the end of August. Travel agencies which book group tickets from Southern Airlines are being offered a discount of 48%.

The Administration says it is making more plans to revive tourism in Xinjiang and will continue to provide financial and other support.

Liu Xiaojun, spokesman of National Tourism Administration, said, "Starting from September, we will make a nationwide tour to promote Xinjiang tourism. And we'll also showcase Xinjiang's tourism resources at international exhibitions."

Following the restoration of law and order in Urumqi and other areas in Xinjiang, the number of tourists visiting famous scenic spots including Kanas, Tianchi Lake and Grape Valley is showing some signs of recovery.
