The Chinese cities in the path of Wednesday's full solar eclipse are getting ready for the spectacle. The eclipse will plunge a large swath of southern and central China in darkness. Cities there are taking steps to prevent any mishaps that this could cause.

Wuhan in central China's Hubei province, will go into night time operation during the eclipse.
Street lights will be turned on to prevent possible disruptions from poor visibility. Airport lights will also be on in terminal buildings and parking areas.
Cities along the Yangtze River are said to be the best places to view the eclipse. They are also taking precautions and promise public transport will not stop service during the eclipse.
