Special Report: View Solar Eclipse |
A total solar eclipse is scheduled to take place about a week from now, on July 22nd. It is expected to be the longest solar eclipse to occur in China in five-hundred years.
The eclipse will best be observed in the populous regions along the Yangtze River. Some ten million people are expected to watch the eclipse.
The most ideal place for Chinese observers is expected to be Yangshan Port in east China Sea. That where viewers hope to be able to watch the phenomenon for nearly 6 minutes.
Astronomers say this will be the largest solar eclipse to appear in China between the period from 1814 to 2309.
