Along Wangfujing, Beijing's commercial street, Michael Jackson is back in the spotlight.

Some cannot believe Jackson is really gone. This girl says she just read a magazine about Jackson's concert tour.

But for most of his fans here, Jackson's death is a tragic end to a once shining star. His music and dancing touched a whole generation in the country he had never been to.

Chai Jing, a music store customer, said, "Michael Jackson's music had a big impact on China, especially since China was just opening up. His rhythm and dance moves were so fresh and different, which is why his work was so symbolic."

The pop star's music was among best sellers since it reached China in the 1990s. Although his later life was marred by scandals and plastic surgery kept altering his appearance, most of his Chinese fans prefer to judge the star by his music.
