13-floor building collapses in Shanghai

A 13-floor apartment building under construction has collapsed in Shanghai, killing one worker. The authorities have ordered suspension of the construction and a thorough investigation.

Witnesses say the whole building started to fall down at about 5:30 on Saturday morning. A 28-year-old worker from Anhui province was killed. The apartment building is located in a premium location in Shanghai. And it sells for 18-thousand yuan per square meter. Local media reported on Friday that some cracks appeared on an anti-flood wall near the building, but the cause of the cracks is still unknown.
