Special Report: Hu Attends SCO, BRIC Meetings |

For more analysis of the first BRIC summit, we are joined by Professor Tao Wenzhao from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

Q1. The BRIC summit has concluded, promising joint efforts to deal with the global financial crisis. What do you think of the results of the summit, and what does it mean to the world economy and the economic slowdown?

Q2. The four countries have different priorities in economic development, particularly in foreign trade. For example, China relies heavily on manufacturing, while Russia depends more on oil exports. How can the four emerging economies cooperate to benefit them all, and what can China do to achieve a positive result?

Q3. Some western media say the BRIC summit sought to challenge the US-dollar-oriented financial system, or even the current global order. Do you think this is true?

Q4. The meeting in Russia is only the beginning of exchanges between BRIC countries, and there may be more such negotiations in the future. How do you think the BRIC cooperation mechanism will develop. Is it likely to become a bloc like the G8?
