Chengdu bus blaze kills 25

A fire on a bus has killed 25 people and injured 76 others in the city of Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province. Sichuan's provincial governor went to the scene and ordered "all-out efforts to treat the injured".

The rescue work has ended. The charred remains of the bus have been removed and traffic has resumed.

The injured have been sent to nearby hospitals. Six of them are in critical condition.

The accident took place at 8 a.m.Friday when the bus was on its way to downtown Chengdu.

Witness said there was smoke coming out of the back of the bus and it took only a few minutes for the fire to engulf the whole vehicle.

More than 10 people escaped from the bus including the bus driver.
