China's export growth isn't just based on manufacturing cheap goods. High-value and high-tech products are taking a bigger share of the export market. World leaders in IT and electronics are increasingly turning to the country to manufacture and assemble their products.
They're cutting edge, and fashionable.
These are some of the world's hottest brands. But many of them were assembled in China, or have most of their parts made here.
Chinese expertise in making high-tech products has grown rapidly in recent years. Take exports to America, for example: from the late 1990s to the middle of this decade, the United States imports of Chinese electronics have skyrocketed. We now get some first-hand insights from domestic firms who manufacture on contract to major US companies.
