The first China-made liquefied natural gas carrier is about to be completed in Shanghai. That makes China one of the few countries in the world able to build this kind of ship. China's ship-building industry can now provide the most advanced carriers in the world.

It's difficult to build a ship like this.

It can carry more than a 100 thousand tons of liquefied gas -- enough to supply everyone in Shanghai for a month.

The hull looks like an ordinary carrier. It's the inside that makes it different. There are 3 factors in building such a high-tech ship.

Liquefied gas is as cold as nearly minus 200 degrees Celsius. And that means a special material is needed to hold it. This ship has 4 containers made of Invar, which maintains its shape despite the extreme temperature.
