Compatriots on the mainland have donated money to support Taiwan's disaster-relief work.

The severe damage in Taiwan has drawn much attention from the mainland. Eighteen enterprise members at the "Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits" were quick to give 106 million yuan and five-million Hong Kong Dollars to the island. Organizations, including the Chinese Red Cross Foundation and the "All China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese", are sending nearly 20-million yuan to storm-stricken regions of Taiwan.

Zheng Lizhong, deputy director of Taiwan Affairs Office of State Council, said, "All in all, we only have one hope, and that is to help Taiwan compatriots recover from the disaster and return to peaceful lives."
