China and the United States share many interests in the field of energy. The comment was made by the director of China's National Energy Administration Zhang Guobao, on the sidelines of the ongoing China-US strategic and economic dialogue.

Zhang Guobao said the first round of the China-US strategic and economic dialogue will cover energy, the environment and climate change. During Monday's talk, Zhang and vice director of China's National Development and Reform Commission, Xie Zhenghua, addressed energy and climate change issues. In the afternoon, Zhang and US Secretary of Energy Steven Chu co-hosted a special meeting on energy and an environment cooperation framework.

Zhang Guobao, Director of National Energy Administration said "The two sides share many mutual interests. At the end of the afternoon's meeting, we both said that there is not enough time here to finish discussing all of them. We still have many things to talk about."

Zhang said China and the US are likely to reach a cooperation agreement on energy, environment and climate change by the end of this round of talks. Zhang also touched on the major concern for China.
