The new China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogues is based on the China-US Strategic Dialogue and China-US Strategic Economic Dialogue launched in 2005 and 2006. Both were important platforms for China and the US to exchange views on strategic, political and economic issues. Let's take a look at their development.

2nd SD, reaches consensus on the need to hold constructive attitudes towards each other.

Nov., 2006, Beijing

3rd SD, announces the significance of building a constructive,healthy and stable relationship.

Jun., 2007, Washington

4th SD, announces the two countries will continue to boost mutual interests.

Jan., 2008 Guiyang

5th SD, reaches consensus on maintaining high-level communication, and deepening dialogue and cooperation.

Dec., 2008 Washington

6th SD, discusses coordination in international issues.
