With the much-anticipated China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue just around the corner, Chinese officials have given some hints on which topics will be discussed.

Assistant finance minister, Zhu Guangyao, says China will ask the U.S. to adopt responsible policies to ensure the basic stability of the exchange rate of the US dollar and to protect the safety of Chinese assets in the US.

Assistant finance minister, Zhu Guangyao, says China will ask the U.S. to adopt responsible policies to ensure the basic stability of the exchange rate of the US dollar and to protect the safety of Chinese assets in the US. He also mentioned other topics such as measures to respond to the global financial crisis and revive economic growth.

The official disclosed that China hopes the meeting will produce agreements to promote trade and oppose protectionism. The two sides also plan to discuss strengthening cooperation in new and renewable energy and conservation.

US President, Barack Obama, will host the opening ceremony scheduled for next Monday in Washington DC.
