Vice governor of Hunan Province, Gan Lin, said Hunan will soon implement a "visa upon arrival" policy for Taiwan visitors, in the hope of attracting more Taiwan tourists to the province.
On a visit to the island, Gan Lin said the main purpose of the plan is to introduce Hunan's tourism to the people in Taiwan, and to explore more business opportunities. She added that Hunan's airports are busily preparing for the new visa system.
Data shows that more than 100 thousand Taiwan residents travel to Hunan Province each year. And currently, there are more than one thousand Hunan people that have visited Taiwan.
In order to boost tourism between the two sides, authorities have decided to increase direct flights between the province's capital Changsha and Taibei from one a week to eight, starting from July.
