The minister disclosed that the economic and trade dialogue touched on the market status issue. He said the EU has agreed to push for recognizing China's full market economy status.
Chen Deming, China's Commerce Minister said "The EU has said it will speed up the process of granting China market economy status. It stressed that there are only technical issues left. So I hope the global financial crisis will make the EU realize that there are different types of market economies, with various stages and characteristics."
Chen said China's exports have been shrinking for nearly 6 months as a result of the global financial crisis. But he added that the country has launched various measures, including sending out global purchasing teams to help the world economy get back on track.
