The Chinese Mainland and Taiwan now have two-way postal and transport links. But so far, investment goes only one way, from Taiwan to the Mainland. The two sides are expected to take up the issue.

By the end of last year, China's mainland had approved 77 thousand investment projects from Taiwan. Cross-straits trade topped 800 billion yuan. The Mainland is now the Taiwan's biggest investment destination. But Taiwan's door is closed to the Mainland investors.

Enterpreneurs from the two sides want to change that.

In December 2008, the Mainland issued a notice that allows mainland's investment to go to Taiwan. It also stipulates the administration rules and encourages selected investments.

In February this year, a group of Mainland business delegates arrived in Taiwan for six-day visit. Entrepreneurs from both sides in ten industries including textiles, garments and retail home appliances exchanged views on cooperation.

Taiwan media says the island authorities have reached a preliminary draft that will open Taiwan for mainland investment. It will first allow industries that complement Taiwan's own.

When the leaders of cross-straits relations meet on Sunday, it's expected the two sides will address the matter and reach some consensus.
