British Prime Minister Gordon Brown opened the G20 leaders summit in London on Thursday. Leaders have agreed to fight protectionism, as they search for a global solution to the global economic and financial crisis.

World leaders attending the G-20 summit have a busy day of intensive talks on Thursday starting with a working breakfast hosted by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and followed by two plenary sessions.

Brown outlined a working plan for the discussion and said the leaders are anxious to reach agreements on major points, including a joint call to resist protectionism, and strengthen financial regulation.

Topics at the summit include enhancing coordination of global fiscal stimulus, increasing funds for the IMF, and reaffirming commitment to anti-protectionism to help restore global sustainable economic growth and stabilize the financial market.

At the meeting are leaders of the United States, European Union countries, Russia, China and other developing countries.
