for China to enhance international cooperation.

During an interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation, Fu Ying said while the London summit is crucial for all participants, it presents an important opportunity for China to communicate with other countries.

Fu Ying, Chinese Ambassador to the UK, says, "...all leaders will have the objective to bring the summit a success..."

When asked about the China's massive foreign currency reserve, the ambassador said the issue was mis-understood. She said the reserve was not part of the central budget, but was the foreign currency income for all Chinese people and enterprises. It is a deposit in the central bank. Based on China's huge population, the per capita amount for the reserve becomes very small, and China is still a developing country.

On the reform and capital injection for the International Monetary Fund, Fu said China had fulfilled its obligation to its current share of the fund. She said it's the right time to reform the IMF. She added that China would bear more responsibility if the country gains a larger share in the organization, and that China supports the IMF's scheme to issue bonds.

On the US dollar's position as the international currency reserve, the ambassador said the possibility of reforms to the financial system had understandably been under hot discussion. She said as it was the first time for China to experience such a global crisis, people have many questions.
