Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has urged international leaders to discuss the creation of a modern currency system. |
At a meeting in Moscow on Tuesday, the Russian president pointed out the current system isn't perfect, and the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank were unprepared for the financial crisis. Medvedev said discussion on reforming the financial system will be a focus at the G-20 summit in London. He also said negotiations on the reform should continue after the summit, and participants should go beyond the G-20 nations. Russia has already proposed the creation of a new reserve currency. It supports expanding the IMF's Special Drawing Rights to include the rouble and the yuan.
