and recover economic growth.

President Hu Jintao says efforts should be made as soon as possible to stabilize the global financial markets. And also "give play to" the role of finance in spurring the real economy to help restore the confidence of the public and enterprises.

President Hu Jintao also says countries should adopt economic stimulus policies based on their own conditions. And that macro-control measures should be strengthened in order to maintain development, employment and the basic livelihood of the people.

President Hu is also urging efforts to resist trade and investment protectionism. He says this will reduce the negative impact brought by the financial crisis, especially on less developed countries.

The Chinese president also says the international financial system should be reformed in a balanced and gradual way. And also step up efforts to prevent a similar crisis from happening in the future.

Meanwhile, President Hu Jintao says China's domestic economy is facing challenges due to the impact of the financial crisis and the downturn in the global economy. But he says China has adopted a series of measures to deal with the changing landscape, ranging from more active financial policy to moderately easy monetary policy. President Hu says China is also planning to stimulate domestic demand and economic growth. He says some of these measures are already seeing positive results. He also says China has the confidence and the ability to maintain stable and fast growth.

Hu Jintao also says China will adhere to its fundamental national policy of opening up to the outside world. And it will also implement mutually beneficial strategies. He says a vigorous and more open China will benefit its own development. But he also says that China's "opening up" will also help the international community to battle with the global financial crisis, and contribute to world peace and development.
