Special Report: Global Financial CrisisPremier Wen Jiabao has held a meeting of the State Council to discuss assigning this year's government work at varying levels of government offices. Wen Jiabao said work for 2009 will focus on dealing with the international financial crisis, and also on efforts to maintain rapid but stable economic growth.
To meet that goal, Wen Jiabao called for speedy implementation of policies to stimulate growth. The Premier also requested all government offices to formulate detailed plans for tasks for the year, stressing that they be carried out sparing no effort, and as quickly as possible.
In addition, Wen Jiabao said there was some improvement in certain industrial sectors and geographical areas. But there were still considerable difficulties ahead.
