MACAO, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Macao saw the total number of personal credit cards in circulation reach 334,676 in the fourth quarter of 2008, up 4.54 percent over the previous quarter, according to the figures released on Monday by the city's Monetary Authority.
The figures showed that the numbers of Pataca cards, Hong Kong Dollar cards and RMB cards stood at 271,401, 54,772 and 8,503 respectively during the fourth quarter of last year.
Pataca cards and RMB cards increased 5.68 percent and 2.3 percent quarter-to-quarter, whereas HKD cards witnessed a decrease of 0.47 percent in the period. Compared with the same period of 2007, Pataca cards and RMB cards grew 4.27 percent and 17.14 percent respectively, while HKD cards dropped 14.98 percent.
Credit card credit limit granted by banks in Macao amounted to 5.94 billion patacas (751 million U.S. dollars) in the period, up 1.24 percent from end-September 2008. The delinquency ratio was 0.41 percent in the period.
