Nearly 60 percent of consumers are optimistic about this year's economic situation in China. The survey, covering 6-thousand consumers in 31 cities, was released by the China Consumers' Association on Sunday.
Just over 42 percent of respondents believe that the country's economy will be stable this year, while 16.7 percent believe the economy will boom. Two thirds of consumers predicted that their family income will not drop this year.

The survey also showed that cars, televisions, homes and computers are the top options for consumers to buy this year. When asked what kind of measures the government should take to increase consumption, the top three answers were to raise income levels, improve the social security system and to reduce or cancel consumption tax.
