Special Report:   2009 NPC & CPPCC Sessions

The car industry will be one of the key driving forces for China's economic growth in 2009. That's a message conveyed in Premier Wen Jiabao's government work report. NPC deputies and CPPCC members are contributing their ideas during the two sessions.

Zeng Qinghong, one NPC Deputy from Guangdong said "In addition to the tax cut on car purchases earlier this year, more positive policies will roll out to activate vehicle transactions. The auto industry was listed as one of the top stimulating forces in China's efforts to boost domestic demand in this year's government work report."

Wang Zheng, one CPPCC member said "There is huge potential for the car market. Statistics show that many people will buy an average of three and a half cars during their lifetime. My research shows that half of the civil servants would buy cars if they were given car purchase coupons and a monthly car allowance. I think it is an effective way to further stimulate the car industry."
