Special Report:   2009 NPC & CPPCC Sessions

Earlier, we interviewed Anoop Singh, the director of the Western Hemisphere Department of the International Monetary Fund. He talked about China's on-going NPC and CPPCC sessions, and made a forecast on the Chinese economy.

Singh said he and his colleagues have paid much attention to the ongoing sessions in China.

Anoop Singh, Regional Director of International Monetary Fund, says, "...today we have a global crisis... how China react is not only important to China, but also for the rest of the world...."

He also talked about his view on whether China will achieve its goal on economic growth.

Anoop Singh says, "...depend on the world economy.. how China implement its fiscal instruments..."

He said China's economic stimulus package is good in both its scale and its structure.

He says, "China will give its people better health care, better consumption support...."

Talking about China's planned 42 billion yuan investment on employment, he said this package is very important. It will help boost consumption and demand, improve social welfare, and give support to the mid and long term development of the economy.
