China's National Tourism Administration says tourism revenues totaled 1.1 trillion yuan last year, up 5 percent year-on-year. The revenue includes 870 billion yuan earned from domestic travelers and 280 billion yuan from overseas tourists.

Compared with 2007, domestic tourism numbers held up, while inbound tourism from abroad declined as the global economic slowdown cut travel demand. China received 130 million inbound travelers in 2008, down 1.4 percent from a year earlier.
