Chongqing is a key transport hub in Southwest China. The municipality is already putting holiday transport plans into effect.

To ease the strain of the approaching Spring Festival, railway authorities have set up additional ticket windows for college students.

One college student said "I'm going to buy a ticket for Nanjing. There are more windows opened for us students. It's relatively easier to get a ticket this year."

Similar measures are in place in Beijing, Henan and Shandong. College students there now have an extended reservation period of 15 days. Railway stations in Guangzhou have begun to accept telephone reservations

The Shanghai rails now have an additional 150 pairs of temporary trains. Their speed has been raised from 100 kilometers an hour to 120 kilometers.
