Special Report:   House Market under New Policy

New government policies aimed at injecting some life back into the real estate market seem to have caught the interest of some Nanjing residents.

Smaller housing is getting preferential policy treatment, including lower downpayment requirements. But despite the renewed interest, the number of actual sales remain low. Statistics show that 85 apartments were reserved this month in Nanjing, but only one unit was actually sold.

The second-hand housing market also slumped in the first half of October. Only 542 units sold in 15 days, the lowest transaction volume of the year.
