Another new travel opportunity the United States. The first group of Chinese mainland tourists to the US departs on Tuesday. Travel agencies say about 90 percent of the people that applied for visas as part of these tour groups successfully got their US visa.

At one Beijing travel agency, all of its US-bound customers got a visa.

Zhou Yue, Manager of China Travel International, said, "The visa pass rate for the first group was very good. One hundred percent passed. 25 tourists all got their visa."

And at China Comfort Travel Agency, 71 of its 80 would-be tourists got a visa. Good travel records and stable incomes are important for successfully getting a visa.

Zhang Qingzhu, Manager of China Comfort Travel Agency, said, "The tourists who get visas are normally elderly people with stable incomes. Those who don't get visas are usually single young men with unstable incomes."

The American Embassy has created a booking channel for Chinese tourists, who can use the system to reserve a visa interview time. The visa processing time has also been shortened to two to three weeks. Tourists can pick up their visa two to three days after a successful interview.
