The Minister of the NDRC, Ma Kai, said during the past five years, the government's macro-control measures have ensured the rapid and stable development of the economy. And have gradually helped to solve major problems in the development of the country's economy.

Ma Kai also said after five years of hard work, a series of coordinated policies by government departments have eased shortages in food supplies. In addition, Ma said investment in industries such as steel have also slowed down significantly.

He also said although some problems in China's economic development still exist, it shouldn't be ascribed just to the ineffectiveness of the macro-economic controls.
