Officials from the mainland and Hong Kong have signed a new update to the four-year-old Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement. The two sides agreed on a supplementary deal, which will mean further commitment in the service sector.

The agreement was signed by Vice Minister of Commerce, Liao Xiaoqi and Henry Tang, secretary of Finance of the Hong Kong SAR government.

Under the supplementary agreement, the mainland will open 11 more areas to Hong Kong, concerning sports, environment and public utilities. That's on the basis of 27 areas which have already been opened.
