The African Development Bank will begin a two-day meeting in Shanghai on Wednesday. It will be the first time that the annual board meeting of the ADB is held in Asia.

The meeting is another significant Africa-related event hosted by China, following last year's Beijing Summit of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum. The theme of this year's meeting is Africa and Asia: Partners in Development. A series of business seminars will be held on the sidelines of the meeting.

"The meeting has provided a good opportunity for consolidating Sino-African relations. Trade cooperation between the two sides has increased five and a half times in the past 6 years," says Donald Kaberuka, President of African Development Bank.

"Asia and Africa are partners in development. We should learn from each other and push forward bilateral cooperation, " says Ma Delun, Secretary General of Organizing Committe.
