The coming travel peak during the Spring Festival holidays is expected to break the record. Officials have warned that there would be huge pressure to the transportation departments.

The forty-day travel peak season, starting from February the 3rd, is estimated to witness about 156 million people travelling by train, four percent more than this year. Passengers will mainly flow into Beijing and Guangzhou before the Spring Festival, and in Chengdu, Wuhan and Hefei after the festival.

Experts say the travel rush caused by the students will be staggered with that of migrant workers and others before the Spring festival, thus to ease the traffic pressure. However, all kinds of passengers will be in jam at one time when the holidays end. The Ministry of Railways said it would make more efforts to better arrange transportation, as well as ticket sales and security checks.
